Description of Duties Teach 100 and/or 200 level Automotive courses both daytime and evenings.
Design and deliver curriculum; evaluate and report student progress, maintain office hours.
Develop engaging teaching pedagogies that embody active learning principles.
Engage students in academic and professional opportunities through the curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Actively participate in recruitment and retention efforts for Automotive program.
Contribute to an enriching academic environment through teaching excellence; robust curriculum development and assessment; providing significant service to the department, division, and College.
Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional growth and productive scholarship.
Active participation in the College's collegial governance, student success and completion agenda.
Minimum Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree in a related field required (Master's degree preferred).
Successful candidate must be fully ASE certified in the eight automotive areas.
At least six (6) years of relevant automotive service experience is also necessary.
Willingness to maintain appropriate automotive certifications and attend classes to meet the extensive training requirements of our General Motors program.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Evidence of well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication abilities.

Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
Commitment to continued professional growth and departmental service and departmental leadership.

Evidence of technical literacy and a demonstrated willingness to maintain skills as technology changes.
Applicants invited for a second level interview may be required to present a teaching demonstration.
Preferred Qualifications & Special Considerations Formal teaching/training experience is preferred, five (5) or more years of relevant automotive service experience that would include 2-3 years as a classroom teacher/trainer.
An individual with strong and consistent interest in environmental issues as they relate to Automotive Technology as well as emerging technologies.
The ability to teach all aspects of Automotive Technology, including electricity/electronics, fuel systems, brakes, steering and suspension, engine repair, automatic and manual transmissions and HVAC.
A familiarity with the Learning Management System Canvas and the video conferencing tool Zoom.
Knowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
Faculty members teaching extra courses or working additional hours during the academic year and in the summer receive additional compensation.
