The department welcomes candidates who are committed to Brookdale's mission of success and academic excellence, and who desire to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
In addition to excellent academic credentials and subject area knowledge, candidates will bring to the college a passion for teaching, a keen desire to assist students, and a devotion to contributing to the Brookdale community.
Candidates will demonstrate a love for enlightenment inside and outside of the classroom.
Faculty will prepare curriculum and teach a full-time course load for various departmental offerings, and participate in curriculum revisions and departmental initiatives including partnerships with the Alternate Route teaching programs at Brookdale, and with the New Jersey Department of Education mandates and expectations.
Description of DutiesDesign, develop, and deliver curriculum with specific expertise in special education.
Evaluate and report student progress and maintain office hours.
Develop engaging teaching pedagogies that embody active learning principles, universal design, and innovative technological applications that model effective teaching and learning.
Manage student required observations and evaluate student progress.
Manage departmental assessment initiatives and maintain assessment data.
Build professional relationships as partnerships among local Pre-K-12 education agencies.
Actively engage in college wide governance and initiatives.
Actively engage with career and leadership departments at Brookdale and with career initiatives through local, regional, state, and national agencies.
Contribute to an enriching academic environment through teaching excellence; robust curriculum development and assessment; providing significant service to the department, division, and College.
Demonstrate a commitment to continued professional growth and productive scholarship.
Active participation in the College's student success and completion agenda.
Engage students in academic and professional opportunities through curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Master's degree in education; preferred special education emphasis, or similar.
Experience:
Pre-K-12 experience required, preferred special education teacher certification or similar, preferred earned tenure status at the Pre-K-12 sector.
Experience in teaching undergraduate education courses.
Experience using a learning management system (e.
g.
CANVAS ) to support courses, development of curriculum, and conducting assessments.
Administrative responsibilities demonstrating efficiency with multiple projects and initiatives.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to participate in curriculum revisions and departmental initiatives including partnerships with CPS and the Department of Education.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and an authentic commitment to a collegial working environment.
Evidence of respect for and understanding of people with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and needs.
Commitment to continued professional growth and departmental service.
Knowledge of, or experience in, implementing a variety of teaching strategies.
Evidence of technical literacy and a demonstrated willingness to maintain skills as technology changes.
Willingness to work in collaboration with department colleagues, and to teach classes in various modalities - face-to-face, via Zoom, or online.
Preferred Qualifications & Special ConsiderationsKnowledge of Monmouth County and its communities.
Doctorate in Education or similar.
Supervisory certificate or equivalent issued by state agency or verified supervisory certification in progress.
Flexibility for delivering instruction and performing various teaching delivery methods, and course scheduling flexibility for format, day and evening availability.
Candidates invited for an in-person interview will be required to present a teaching demonstration.

This position is in-person at the main Lincroft Campus.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
